Back in 2019, Essay Video finished the year having doubled in size since 2018. Poised for a busy first quarter in 2020 and feeling optimistic about another year of growth, we relocated our office space down the street to a warehouse that quadrupled our capacity and offered ample room for new gear, including a recent acquistion of 300 brand new LED panels. By March 1st, we signed the lease on a 20,000 square-foot space while in the midst of the long and looming shadow of the global pandemic. A month later – and as we all know so well – the world stopped spinning and our plans shifted.

Rather than allowing valuable video gear to sit around and collect dust, we designed socially-distant-friendly opportunities for our valued clients and industry friends, and took strategic steps in the direction of Virtual and Hybrid Events. Our LED panels took the shape of a grand 26′ tall x 50′ wide curved LED Wall (2.6mm pixel pitch), our new offices became Webcasting Studios, and our lives went completely virtual. We’ve always had the philosophy that when the work slows down, it’s time to get busy. Promisingly enough, this principle was fully realized and practiced over the summer, and our team demonstrated a willingness to transform the company into an online event factory, all while fashioning a KN95 without complaint. By the time we finished the year in December we had billed over 100 virtual events and were operating at about 6 shows a week.

Flash forward to 2021 and multiple renovations later, our studios are client-focused spaces with state of the art equipment installed permanently into substantial engineering desks and modern furniture pieces. We detailed our workspace and deliberated over and over again to ensure no wire gets crossed and that guests feel comfortably safe as we zoom together toward a healthier world.
